Amy Romano

Amy is a mother of two, a nurse-midwife, and an outspoken advocate for maternity care system reform. Since 2004, she has worked for Lamaze International to analyze, summarize, and critique research for childbirth educators, other birth professionals, and consumers. She currently manages Lamaze’s Science & Sensibility Blog, a resource for birth professionals to find critical analysis of maternity care research and learn to read and communicate about scientific studies.

Amy is currently co-authoring the second edition of Obstetric Myths versus Research Realities and co-editing the 40th anniversary edition of Our Bodies, Ourselves. Both books are due out in 2011.

Her work has been published in several peer reviewed journals and online at RH Reality Check, MothersAdvocate.org, The Unnecesarean, and e-Patients.net.
